Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season

In a bizarre partnership that breaks usual forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Revealed

According to the authorized statement, "An unusual meeting draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The plot introduces a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a secret sect.

The questline concentrates on "peculiar trials and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Transformations

The trailer showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a powerful moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Additional Features

Players who accomplish the quest will receive an exclusive katana together with several artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

  • Titan-based costume for Yasuke
  • Mikasa attire for Naoe
  • Special implements
  • Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Update

This release also adds the game's third free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Collaborations

This represents scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that clearly echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
